The aim of the Young Musicians' Platform was to find the best young solo performers in the Wyre Forest area (either resident here or being taught in Wyre Forest).

The Preliminary Selection Sessions were held in October, when well-known Midlands musician Jeremy Patterson  selected between four and six soloists to take part in the concert. The standard which had been set for entrants was Grade 6 (as a minimum).

The Final Concert was not a competition - each performer receiving a monetary award from the Arts Forum, presented by Geoffrey Weaver - (Director of Outreach with the Royal School of Church Music and Director of two local choirs = Kidderminster Choral Society & Wyre Forest Young Voices).

A cassette or CD of the soloists' performances, was produced following the Preliminary Sessions.
