The Valentines Ladies Choir came into existence in 1988 as a group of wives, daughters and friends of the members of Kidderminster Male Choir. From seven members in 1988, the choir’s membership has now grown to over 40.

The Valentines belong to the National Association of Choirs, the Wyre Forest Arts Forum and the local Twinning Association. In August 1999 the choir visited Husum, Kidderminster’s twin town, and gave concerts with local choirs.

The Valentines’ repertoire caters for most tastes and includes folk songs from many nations, modern sacred music, spirituals and gospel songs, ragtime, blues, songs from the shows, classical and even some barbershop arrangements.

Some items are arranged by Pam Cunningham, the Valentines’ Musical Director; and the choir is also fortunate to have the services of Morfudd Sinclair, a fine accompanist who also specialises in composing and arranging.

The Valentines are available for social events, fund-raising and weddings. New members with some experience of choral singing are welcome, particularly those with voices in the lower register. For further information contact Pam Cunningham on (voice) Kidderminster (01562) 630914 )
